Artist Statement
Deze serie is geïnspireerd op het werk van René Magritte en onderzoekt de spanning tussen werkelijkheid en illusie. Ik ben gefascineerd door de manier waarop vertrouwde objecten verontrustend kunnen worden wanneer ze buiten hun verwachte context worden geplaatst. Door middel van conceptuele fotografie creëer ik scènes die op het eerste gezicht rustig lijken, maar elementen van tegenstrijdigheid, mysterie en stilte bevatten.
Het werk speelt met perceptie en symboliek en nodigt de kijker uit om te onderzoeken wat ze eigenlijk zien. Gezichten worden verborgen, proporties voelen onbekend aan en gewone objecten worden surrealistisch. Ik gebruik minimale composities en gecontroleerde styling om beelden te creëren die tijdloos, poëtisch en licht absurd aanvoelen.
In plaats van directe antwoorden te geven, laat de serie ruimte voor interpretatie en verbeelding.
This series is inspired by the work of René Magritte and explores the tension between reality and illusion. I’m fascinated by the way familiar objects can become unsettling when placed outside their
expected context. Through conceptual photography, I recreate scenes that feel calm at first glance, yet contain elements of contradiction, mystery and silence.
The work plays with perception and symbolism, inviting the viewer to question what they are actually seeing. Faces are hidden, proportions feel unfamiliar and ordinary objects become surreal. I use minimal compositions and controlled styling to create images that feel timeless, poetic and slightly absurd.
Rather than giving direct answers, the series leaves space for interpretation and imagination.
